Privacy Policy

GameClanFinder ("we", "us", "the platform") is a schedule-matched gaming directory that helps players and clans find each other. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

1. What We Collect

We deliberately collect as little as possible. Account creation happens exclusively through Steam OpenID login — we never see or store your Steam password, and we don't offer traditional email/password registration.

• From Steam: your Steam ID, public display name, and avatar image.
• Region/timezone: the region you select when signing up (used only to suggest a starting timezone default and for schedule-matching search filters).
• Profile information you choose to add: clan/player name, "About" text, game preferences, active-hours schedule, and any contact details you enter (Discord invite, TeamSpeak address, or website).
• Technical data: a login session cookie so you stay signed in, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, request timestamps) used only for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect payment information, real names, physical addresses, or government ID. We do not run advertising trackers or sell data to third parties.

2. How We Use It

• To create and display your public clan or player listing.
• To match you with other players/clans based on game, region, schedule, and playstyle.
• To verify you're a real person via Steam authentication, reducing spam and fake accounts.
• To operate core site functionality (login sessions, moderation, abuse prevention).

3. What We Show Publicly

Your clan/player profile page — including your Steam display name, avatar, selected games, schedule, and any contact details you've chosen to add — is visible to other visitors, including people who are not logged in. Don't add contact information you don't want publicly visible; you're always in control of what you enter.

4. Third-Party Services

• Steam (Valve Corporation): handles the login process itself. See Steam's own privacy policy for how they handle your data during login.
• Discord/TeamSpeak/external websites: if you add a Discord invite, TeamSpeak address, or website link to your profile, clicking it takes visitors to that external service, which has its own separate privacy practices we don't control.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you'd like your account and all associated data permanently deleted, contact us using the details below — we'll remove your account, listings, and profile information from our systems.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Most of this you can already do yourself: edit your profile anytime from your dashboard, or contact us for anything else, including full account deletion.

7. Cookies

We use a single essential session cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

GameClanFinder is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country). We don't knowingly collect data from children below that age.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
